October at the MGCC Library

In case you didn't know, the MGCC Library is the place to be during the month of October. From chilling book displays, to the return of Harold Skellington III, fall vibes can be found everywhere you look.

First, let's talk about Harold Skellington III. Harold is the library's resident haunted patron, and he returns each October to help teach students about the library's resources. This year, he is making his debut as a K-pop star! Come find Harold in the library, then stop by the Circulation Desk to complete a raffle ticket. Just let us know which resource he was using, and you'll be entered to win a Domino's gift card! He'll move twice a week, so don't forget to stop in and find him.

He's also got his own Spotify playlist, full of spooky K-pop songs, so be sure to give that a listen as well!

While you're looking for Harold, be sure to also browse our Halloween-themed book display, located at the front of the library. But beware! You may encounter vampires, witches, and ghosts (oh my!). Feel free to check out any book that catches your eye.

Brand new books are also arriving and are displayed on the shelves near the student computers! These books are part of our popular reading section, which includes new releases and best sellers from a variety of genres.

Finally, feel free to simply take a seat and watch the leaves fall while you study or read. The library truly has the best views on campus! 🍂

April is National Poetry Month! Read on to learn more about some of the books on display this month, and stop by the library anytime to take a look! Also, each week in April, we will feature some lines of a song or a poem. Come test your knowledge on which artist said what! Song lyrics are poetry, after all, and both can be so powerful. (We will share the correct answers at the end of each week.) Into the Hush  by Arthur Sze: Like wind on a lake, Arthur Sze’s twelfth book of poetry, Into the Hush , extends a language that ripples and stills, widens and deepens. Through an earned and profound simplicity, these poems move with imaginative power and emotional force and gather a startling array of contrasts—from wildfires to a sprig of sunrise, from gunshots to a spirit evoked by swaying c...
