Tutor.com

Did you know that Tutor.com is an amazing (and free!) online resource that's available to our students right from Canvas? Simply log in to myDabney, access your course within Canvas, and select the Tutor.com option to have 24/7 access to tutors!

Once you've selected the Tutor.com option in Canvas, choose your specific subject in order to immediately connect with a tutor, either via chat or via chat+voice. You can also choose to schedule a tutoring session with a specific tutor of your choosing - be sure to choose your subject from the drop-down menu.

Tutor.com tutors can assist you with things like studying, test prep, and homework help. Please note that they'll help you solve problems and reach the solutions on your own, without giving you the answers directly.

The best part? Tutor.com is FREE to currently enrolled DSLCC students. And tutors are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week - except on New Year's Day, Independence Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas.

Remember: If you have questions about using this service, please feel free to reach out to a member of Library staff (Nova at nwright@dslcc.edu, Sara at sechambers@dslcc.edu, and Katie at kwrenn@dslcc.edu). We're always happy to help!

How to Use LibGuides

Do you have a research project coming up and are unsure of where to start? Do you need help with citing your sources? Or maybe you have questions about using Zoom for your classes. Did you know that all of these answers - and more! - can be found in our DSLCC LibGuides?

We know that research can be a difficult process, and we want to make it as simple as possible for you. Our LibGuides, or Research Guides, are sort of like a one-stop-shop.

You can use DSLCC's LibGuides to...:

  • Begin your research and find credible sources for your project within hundreds of databases. Databases allow you to search for journal articles and other resources relating to your topic, and they can be found listed by subject (i.e. your specific program or course) or alphabetically.
  • Learn how to properly cite your sources. There are different ways to cite sources, depending on your class, program, or your project's specific instructions. We offer LibGuides for MLA, APA, and Chicago Style citations.
  • Access resources and information specific to your program or discipline. For instance, there are LibGuides that were created just for the Forestry, Nursing, LPN, EMS programs, and more!
  • Get help with using Canvas and Zoom for your online courses.
  • Access VCCS student resources, including software and discounts.

Our LibGuides can also be found by going to DSLCC.edu and then clicking: Student Support > Library > Research Guides (in sidebar).

As always, you're more than welcome to contact a member of Library staff if you have questions or need any help with your research! We are: Nova Wright (nwright@dslcc.edu), Katie Wrenn (kwrenn@dslcc.edu), and Sara Chambers (sechambers@dslcc.edu).
