MGCC Library Updates - March 2026

It's hard to believe it's already March - we're almost halfway through the Spring 2026 semester! Some exciting things are happening at the MGCC Library this month. Read on to learn more.

But first, did you know...?

  • Faculty, staff, and students don't need a library card to check out books and materials.
  • Study rooms are available to students on a first-come-first-served basis and by reservation.
  • Students can print for free in the library!
  • You can easily search our catalog, access our databases, and learn more about the library's services at the MGCC Library Guide.

March Library Events


Poet Laureate and Visual Art Luminary Reception

A reception will be held on Tuesday, March 17, from 12PM-1PM, to celebrate the winners of the 2026 Poet Laureate and Visual Art Luminary contest. Join us in the library for artist interviews, poetry readings, and light refreshments.

The winning pieces are currently on display in the library. We invite the campus community to come by and enjoy these students' work!

Women's History Month

March is Women's History Month! Stop by anytime to browse our newest book display, located at the front of the library. We've featured classic and contemporary literature, non-fiction, and memoirs, all written by incredible women.

New Popular Reading Books

We're excited to announce that several new books have been added to our Popular Reading section. Titles include My Friends by Fredrik Backman, Dear Debbie by Freida McFadden, Good People by Patmeena Sabit, The ADHD Field Guide for Adults by Cate Osborn and Erik Gude, and so many more. Stop by and browse the collection today! You never know - you may just find your new favorite book. 😊

Mothman's Second Annual Library Appearance

Mothman will be coming back to lay eggs in the library this year! Starting Monday, March 30, be on the lookout for colorful eggs hidden throughout the library, filled with a sweet treat and some cryptid surprises.

Also, in the coming weeks, the shelves near the student computers will be filled with books about creatures and folkloric tales from a variety of cultures. We're so excited to showcase these hidden gems from our collection, so be sure to stop by and check them out!

Celebrating Black History Month

February is Black History Month. The MGCC Library's newest book display is a celebration of Black history, art, and literature. The display is located at the front of the library, and all books are available for checkout. Below are just some of the amazing books we've included in the display.
