Holiday Hours

 Next week, the DSLCC Library will be open with limited holiday hours: Monday, December 20 - Thursday, December 23: 8 AM - 12 PM Friday, December 24 - Friday, December 31: CLOSED We hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday season!

Extended Library Hours

Do you need a quiet space to study for your final exams or work on an upcoming paper? December 7, 8, and 9: the DSLCC Library will be open 8 AM - 8 PM Don't forget! The Writing Center is located in the Library and is available to assist you at any stage of your writing process. Email Sara at sburkholder@dslcc.edu to set up an appointment. Writing Center hours are as follows: Monday: 8 AM - 4 PM (on campus) Tuesday: 8 AM - 4 PM (via Zoom) Wednesday: CLOSED Thursday: 8 AM - 4 PM (via Zoom) Friday: 8 AM - 3 PM (on campus) In addition, the Testing Center is available by appointment only. Can you believe that 2021 is almost over? Here are ten of the best books of the year -- and you can find them all at the DSLCC Library! This time of the semester finds many students working on research projects for various classes. Don't forget that the DSLCC Library is here to help! We have a large variety of databases available to you to assist in your research. Read on to learn more! From the main DSLCC Library page, you can access our databases from the "In This Section" sidebar. If you prefer to search our databases by subject, you may do so here. Or, to view our entire list of databases, click on the red A-Z Database List link. Here, you can see all the databases we have available, as well as a brief description of each. Tip: Academic Search Complete and EBSCOhost are wonderful options to begin your database research! When beginning your research within a database, make sure that your topic isn't too broad. How to Use the WEPA

One of the many resources the DSLCC Library offers is the ability to print. We utilize a Wireless Everywhere Print Anywhere (WEPA) print kiosk, and I'll walk you through the steps below! First, make sure to purchase a WEPA print card. $1 or $2 cards are available at the Library's circulation desk (cash only) or at the DSLCC Bookstore (cash/credit/debit), located in the Moomaw Center. Once you have your print card, go to wepanow.com and click the Login button in the top right corner. Choose Dabney S. Lancaster Community College from the School drop-down menu, then login using your myDabney username and password. After you login, click on Document Upload located in the black menu bar. Click on the Choose your file... button and select the document you're needing to print. If you're working in Google Docs or OneDrive, be sure that you save your document to your computer as a Word document or a PDF. If you need assistance with this step, just ask us! Did you know that Tutor.com is an amazing (and free!) online resource that's available to our students right from Canvas? Simply log in to myDabney, access your course within Canvas, and select the Tutor.com option to have 24/7 access to tutors! Once you've selected the Tutor.com option in Canvas, choose your specific subject in order to immediately connect with a tutor, either via chat or via chat+voice. You can also choose to schedule a tutoring session with a specific tutor of your choosing - be sure to choose your subject from the drop-down menu. Tutor.com tutors can assist you with things like studying, test prep, and homework help. Qualifications: Be a current or former DSLCC student, a student at another college, or a qualified member of the community. Have an A or high B in the subject for which you’d like to tutor and/or professional experience that qualifies you to tutor the subject. Have an overall 3.0 GPA on all current and previous college work. Maintain a 3.0 overall GPA during the time you’re employed as a tutor (current college students only). FAQs: What hours would I have to work? Tutors generally set their own hours; however, applicants should have at least 10 hours per week available to devote to tutoring. How much are tutors paid? The hourly wage starts at $10.00 per hour for tutors who have not yet earned at least an associate degree. Will I receive any training? Yes. Banned Books Week 2021

This week (September 26-October 2) is Banned Books Week. This annual event was started in 1982 and celebrates the "freedom to read." We've put together a list of classics that have been banned and challenged all over the country for a variety of reasons, and all of these books can be found here at the DSLCC Library . Fall 2021 - TEAS Information

The DSLCC Testing Center is currently proctoring the TEAS (Test of Essential Academic Skills) remotely via Proctorio. Students applying to the DSLCC Nursing Program must first take and pass the TEAS. Read on for more information! The ATI TEAS test comprises 170 questions set up in a multiple-choice format with four-option answers. Questions are designed to test the basic academic skills you will need to perform successfully in the areas of: Reading, Math, Science, and English and Language Usage.
