DSLCC Educational Foundation Scholarships

Need help paying for College? Submit your application to the DSLCC Educational Foundation before the deadline. Each year, the DSLCC Educational Foundation awards more than $200,000 in scholarships and Dabney Promise honors to DSLCC students, with awards ranging from $250-$5,000. To be considered for more than 75 scholarship opportunities and/or the Dabney Promise Program, complete your application today! Applications are due by March 17. More information is provided below.

Your scholarship application is to be completed entirely online. To get started, sign in using your myDabney login credentials. The application includes the following:

  • One letter of recommendation, excluding family members. (If you're a graduating high school senior, a current or former instructor is preferred. Current DSLCC nursing students may not submit letters from current DSLCC Nursing Faculty.)
  • One essay.
  • A short resume that showcases your extracurricular activities, community involvement, and/or work history.
  • Your most recent official high school transcript or your unofficial DSLCC transcript if you are a current student.

Please note that your FAFSA for the upcoming academic year must be completed, and all additional requested information must be submitted to the Financial Aid Office before the scholarship application deadline (March 17). Visit studentaid.gov to complete your FAFSA, if you have not yet done so!

Don't forget to also apply to the Dabney Promise Program! Dabney Promise is a need-based scholarship designed to remove the financial barriers of attending college. This means that, once your financial aid and any other scholarships are applied to your student account, the Dabney Promise Program would take care of the rest (up to 15 credit hours). Funds to assist with the cost of textbooks may also be included!

Note: The Dabney Promise Program requires that students maintain at least a 2.25 GPA, be enrolled in a minimum of 9 credit hours per semester, complete 8 hours of community service during the Fall semester, and be a resident of the college's service area.

For more information about scholarships, the Dabney Promise Program, or the application, you may contact the Educational Foundation Office at 540-863-2934, or via email at jcook@dslcc.edu.
