Pride Month at the MGCC Library

June is Pride Month! Stop by the MGCC Library to check out our newest book display, which features LGBTQ+ authors and stories. This display is located at the front of the library, and all books are available for checkout. MGCC's 2024 Poet Laureate & Artist Luminary Celebration

Join us in the MGCC Library on Tuesday, April 2, at 11:30 AM, for the 2024 Poet Laureate & Artist Luminary Celebration! This event will feature poetry readings, a panel discussion, and light refreshments. This year marked the first annual VCCS Poet Laureate & Artist Luminary competition, with the first round being held at the school level. Hayli Givens has been named Mountain Gateway's first Poet Laureate, and Sabrina Burks has been named Artist Luminary. Georgia Bickford placed second in MGCC's poetry contest. Thank you to Josh Hagy, MGCC English faculty, for taking the lead on this project and encouraging our students to take part in such an exciting endeavor. Hayli will go on to compete at Piedmont Virginia Community College on April 5 and 6, alongside the Poets Laureate from all other VCCS colleges.
